The Promise
What is it?
Living the low carb lifestyle simply means reducing carbohydrates in your meals and snacks. By avoiding starches and sugars, blood sugar tends to stabilize, reducing the level of fat-storing insulin in the body.
Carbohydrates are the body’s primary resource for energy. Once those carbs are depleted, the body burns stored fats instead, resulting in weight maintenance (with a moderate amount of carbs). If weight loss is your goal, the low carb lifestyle includes protein that protects muscle.
So what can you eat?
Anything from meats and fish, to vine veggies, to select fruits and healthy fats. You would need to eliminate high-carb foods like sugar, rice, pasta, beans, potatoes and breads. Or, better yet, substitute them for lower carb alternatives. That’s where I come in!
I have worked years to create low-carb comfort foods using ingredients that maintain the comfort and taste and goodness we all know and love. These recipes are every bit as rich, luscious, and flavorful. If friends and family are clamoring for more, then those are the recipes that make the grade.
